Obama Admininstration to appoint special torture investigation prosecutor!
From Wapo,
Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. has decided to appoint a prosecutor to examine nearly a dozen cases in which CIA interrogators and contractors may have violated anti-torture laws and other statutes when they threatened terrorism suspects, according to two sources familiar with the move. It's about damned time, I mean really it should have happened as soon as he took office, it's time for Obama to swing some punches instead of a pillow! Now if we can take this approach to health care and get single payer we might get somewhere.

Would it have been cheaper to give Americans million dollar tax returns than bailout the banks ?
You know, at this point in the game, with all the money banks still need and all, would our government not have been better off all around to have just given each American a million dollar tax refund this year?
This is in NO WAY sarcasm. Now, to be honest I haven't looked at census data lately, and well, I quit tracking the bottom line on the last 8 months of bailouts when I couldn't count all the 0's on my calculator. Honestly though, aren't we getting REALLY close to the point where we could have just given everyone that makes less than a million a year a million bucks and come out cheaper, or at least with a more stimulated economy ? I mean what would it do to our economy if no one were going under due to bad loans, people were spending money like crazy that they actually had, and debts were paid off in full ? Anyone ? Someone? Why are we still tossing money at these banks??? I switched parties this time last year to vote Obama in hopes that he would not continue to status quo and he's only making it worse so far by continuing to throw bad money at these failing banks when we need to just let them fail at this point.

Your Opinion - Republicans Are Caught Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea
CAUGHT BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA
In order to gain the political control they've enjoyed over the last ten years, Republican moderates and Reagan conservatives made a pact with the devil (faux Christians, bigots and misanthropes) to achieve the numbers they needed to defeat Democrats. They made a strategic decision to manipulate and exploit the ignorance, fears and hatreds of dysfunctional and vulnerable voters in order to win elections rather than lose them by being intellectually and morally honest. Today, those who conspired with the devil are caught between wanting to disassociate themselves with and or casting out the devil they empowered and the karmic reality that they don't have the numbers to hold on to or regain power without continuing to accept and "advocate" the immoral values, hypocrisies and corruptions that are dividing and destroying their party. The survival of today's shrinking Republican Party has become so dependent on extremism that they have no significant power left WITH or WITHOUT the support of America's increasingly pernicious lunatic fringe. The idiom "caught between the devil and the deep blue sea" is certainly appropriate as Republicans are facing the dilemma of choosing between two equally undesirable alternatives that both result in Republican impotence in mainstream American politics. They are suffering the consequences of their treachery. Their irresponsible propping up of George W. Bush cost them their credibility, and their disgraceful and shameless licking of Rush Limbaugh's storm trooper boots is costing them their viability. Shamelessly reproduced from Osage and I couldn't have said it better myself.

Thank you Sheriff Arpaio for a job well done
This is a response to Dawn Teo over at Huffpo on This post complaining about Sheriff Arpaio , Maricopa County Sheriff in Arizona.
I'm sorry but if you are here illegally then you are already a criminal and honestly right now we can't take care of our own much less you and yours as well. I have compassion for you, and I think you need to seek a visa before entering our country, just like you would ANY other country , this prevents you from becoming a drain on our socio-economic resources as well as eliminates any chance for employers to accidentally hire you, as all workers in this country are required to pay income taxes and entitlement payments and in order to do that you need a real social security number that belongs only to you. One more time, if you are here without a visa then you are a criminal and you need to return to your country of origin and or speak with an immigration official about a visa or asylum requests otherwise you risk arrest possible criminal convictions and deportation if caught. Thank you Sheriff Arpaio for a job well done, please keep up the work of lowering crime and eliminating undue burdens from society and also for not treating common criminals any better than they deserve, more Bologna sandwiches!

Woman Against McCain/Palin Releases A Powerful New Ad
In light of John McCain's unwillingness to allow women to have abortions even when the health of the woman is in danger (as he made very clear in last night's Presidential debate), Women Against McCain/Palin release an emotional new ad. A must see.

Thoughts On The Final Debate
Honestly, I was NOT looking forward to yet another debate between Senators Obama and McCain. Partly because the last two were fairly identical in content, with both contenders pretty much repeating stump speeches verbatim and I couldn't stomach a repeat of those. So I was pleasantly surprised then to see something that approached an actual debate of ideas and philosophies. I think it was more clear after this debate how each man thinks and what he believes in.
What caught my attention, particularly, was McCain's obvious disdain for women. Aside from his pick of the unqualified and just embarrassing bimbo Palin, his barely disguised sneering contempt for women who need abortions because of health issues was quite disturbing. The man even used "air quotes" as he was talking about his views on abortion for godsakes. I am a woman, so these kinds of reactions really jump out and scare the bejeesus out of me. I was also struck by McCain's inability to coherently explain his proposed economic policies. He just rambled around the topic, seemingly blurting out every bullet point he could think of, without actually saying what they would mean to me personally, an average middle-class-but-hanging-on-to-that-by-my-fingernails voter. The other thing about the debate that has stuck with me, beyond the anticipation of seeing McCain try and whoop Obama's "you-know-what" with his cynically manufactured Ayers accusations, is just how cool Obama is and just how much McCain cannot stand it. Senator McCain was a grimacing, eye-rolling, gurning fool, all but jumping out of his seat to signal what an "dangerous" idiot his opponent was. Sadly, he made himself look petty and even smaller a man than he is, which I hadn't thought was even possible at this point. As I've said before, I am no longer able to rationally discuss the McCain/Palin Hate Talk Express farrago, so by all means take my opinion with a wee bit of salt.
