Would it have been cheaper to give Americans million dollar tax returns than bailout the banks ?
You know, at this point in the game, with all the money banks still need and all, would our government not have been better off all around to have just given each American a million dollar tax refund this year?
This is in NO WAY sarcasm. Now, to be honest I haven't looked at census data lately, and well, I quit tracking the bottom line on the last 8 months of bailouts when I couldn't count all the 0's on my calculator. Honestly though, aren't we getting REALLY close to the point where we could have just given everyone that makes less than a million a year a million bucks and come out cheaper, or at least with a more stimulated economy ? I mean what would it do to our economy if no one were going under due to bad loans, people were spending money like crazy that they actually had, and debts were paid off in full ? Anyone ? Someone? Why are we still tossing money at these banks??? I switched parties this time last year to vote Obama in hopes that he would not continue to status quo and he's only making it worse so far by continuing to throw bad money at these failing banks when we need to just let them fail at this point.
